Okumura, Koichi (1904-1974)

Koichi Okumura was a Japanese Kyoto school artist who worked and taught art in the old imperial city until his death in 1974. He is known for his prints depicting famous views of Kyoto. He belonged to the circle of Kyoto artists. He graduated from the Kyoto City Specialist School of Painting and later became professor at Kyoto City University of Arts. He created a series of twelve prints, titled “Twelve Views of Kyoto”, which was published by Unsodo in 1948.
