Minagawa, Taizo (1917–2005)
Taizo Minagawa was born in 1917 in Kyoto and graduated from the Kyoto City School of Arts and Crafts and was an Expert Dyer. While he is best known as a weaver and textile dyer in Japan, he created a number of woodblock Scenes which show a unique understanding of the art form. His dying skills can be seen in his individual use of colors. His small series of scenes from a journey to Korea were very popular on his return. He was a frequent exhibitor at Nittan the Japanese national Fine Arts Exhibition and has won many prizes. He died in 2005 and his work can be found in many museums.
