This print is no 23 in the series and depicts Torii Suneemon seeking help from Tokugawa Ieyasu against Takeda Katsuyori. Torii Suneemon (1540 –1575) was an ashigaru (low class footman) who served the Okudaira family, retainer of Tokugawa Ieyasu. He became famous for his bravery and incredible exploit at the siege of Nagashino.

Format is Oban tate-e. This is a second edition print done during the artist lifetime. Comes sealed in presentation mat. Not examined outside of mat, but appears to be in very good condition. Excellent color and definition. No flaws or problems of note. Mat size is 16"x20". Provenance: from Arise (Paul Maclardy) of Clinton, MD. Asking price is $600.
