The Story of Dômyôji Temple (S1820)

The Story of Dômyôji Temple (S1820)

$258.00

This print is one of the 100 designs from Kogyo for his series “Picture of Noh Plays.”  These beautifully drawn prints with fine detail in the fabrics and facial expressions, faithfully bring these memorable Noh performances to life. Kogyo’s incredible attention to detail beautifully captures the sumptuous costume fabrics, hand-carved masks, and intricately crafted props. Many of these striking prints include deluxe embellishments, such as shimmering mica, embossed textures, and soft shading. They have a spare, almost Zen quality to the design. The Domyoji is a temple with 1,400 years of history.  It is deeply connected to ancient scholar Sugawara no Michizane.
