This design is part of Tokuriki’s lovely “Thirty Views of Kyoto” series, published by Uchida in 1936. These charming shin-hanga designs illustrate famous places and events in Kyoto, and are rendered in a painterly style with subdued colors and soft shading. First edition images from this series are rarely seen on the market. Arashiyama park is famous for the cherry blossoms in the spring. Arashiyama (Storm Mountain) is a district on the western outskirts of Kyoto, Japan and is a nationally designated Historic Site and Place of Scenic Beauty.
This first edition print has excellent color and detail. The print is mounted to stiff board in the nearly square shikishiban format, ready for display, with a label on the reverse. These mounted prints have no margins.
