Bright light is cast from the soba noodle vendor’s cart. He is playing “charumera,” a small brass horn typically used by noodle vendors to attract customers. Soba is the Japanese name for buckwheat. Soba noodles are made from buckwheat flour, or a combination of buckwheat and wheat flours. They contrast to thicker wheat noodles, called udon.This print is one of Tokuriki’s most popular.

 

Carver is Eijiro.  Slight toning.  Typical printer smudges in the margins.
