Tokuriki, Tomikichiro – Kagoshima in Kyushu Island (Kagoshima Shiruyama) – S0044

$151.00

This print depicts a beautiful view of Shiruyama (literally the mountain in a city) in the middle of Kogashima city in Kyushu. Kagoshima is Kyushu’s southernmost major city and the capital of Kagoshima Prefecture. The city is often compared with its Italian sister city Naples due to a similarly mild climate, palm tree lined streets, and Sakurajima which is an active volcano like Vesuvius.

This print was originally done in the 1940s as part of a sacred places series. It was later re-titled and issued by Uchida as one of series of eight famous views of Japan.
