Great Fire at Ryogoku Seen from Asakusa Bridge (S1800)

Great Fire at Ryogoku Seen from Asakusa Bridge (S1800)

$465.00

Kiyochika’s house burned down in the Great Fire at Ryōgoku of 26 January 1881 while he was out sketching. This print captures that event. Crimson flame that dyes the sky red. The fire spreads even further, giving up smoke and scattering sparks. This is a picture depicting a world where the blazing fire that is just burning across Ryogoku Bridge on the shores of the Sumida River is far away, and the terrible rage of the disaster, as well as the sarcasm of the beautiful colors that appear at that time.
