A woman with a child on her back walks by the main gate of the Gion shrine as a flock of pigeons forages on the ground in front of her. The Gion Shrine (now called Yasaka), is a Shinto shrine in the Gion District of Kyoto, Japan. Situated at the east end of Shijō-dōri (Fourth Avenue), the shrine includes several buildings and gates.
