Tokuriki, Tomikichiro – Aso Shrine in Higo – S0200

$152.00

This wonderful image has a lovely watercolor-like quality, with soft colors and delicate shading. This is a first edition print, published in 1941 by Uchida. Although its origins are uncertain, Aso Shrine is believed to date back almost two thousand years to the end of the Yayoi Period (300 BC to 300 AD). It was considered the most important shrine in Higo Province, present day Kumamoto Prefecture.

This print has excellent color and detail. Slight paper thinning on reverse at top corners from original publisher mounting. Also some small printer smudges in the margin.
